6 Easy steps to finish your year strong and hit the ground running for the new year

Get It in Gear, December is Coming!

Can you believe we are already on the downhill slope of 2018? Have you blocked out some time to review your goals and the progress you’ve made over the past six months? Are you connecting with your vision? What adjustments did you make to your goals or action items to finish the year out? This might sound crazy, but can you believe I just spent this past week intentionally NOT taking client meetings? I put my phone on “Do Not Disturb” and blocked out time to really focus on my goals. I tracked my progress, evaluated my results and made any adjustments I need for the rest of this year.

When you are in the thick of things, like putting out fires and taking care of the day-to-day needs that arise in your business, it can be easy to lose track of the big picture. It’s important that you create a place (and time in your calendar) where you can focus without distraction on those more strategic oriented objectives for your business.

I love this time, it’s a gift that I have given myself which has reaped many benefits. Not only do I feel more organized, but I also feel like I have a clear plan for moving forward.

So…if you haven’t taken the time yet here’s what you MUST do:

  •  Block out time in your calendar
Whether it’s 30 minutes or a week treat this as sacred time. You can use this time not only to review goals and action items but to also wrap up lose ends from the prior 6 months. I also pick 2 or 3 items I have been procrastinating on and finish those. Talk about a weight lifted off my shoulders as I move into the final stretch!
  • Review your vision
Your vision is where you envision your business in 1 year, 3 years, or 5 years. Is it still applicable? Does it need to be adjusted?
  • Review your goals and action steps
How have you done in relation to your goals so far? Take the time to evaluate the progress you’ve made and what still needs to be done. Make adjustments or write new goals for the remainder of the year.
  • Review or create your marketing plan
What is your marketing strategy for the remainder of the year? Plan this out if you haven’t already. Add dates to your calendar for any social media posts, networking events, or other marketing related activities you plan to do.
  • Wrap up loose ends
Use the mid-way point of the year as the “deadline” for getting some of the items you might be procrastinating on done. It helps you be more focused if you don’t have residual “nagging” tasks taking up your thought power.
  • Celebrate!
As entrepreneurs we all know there is always more that needs to be done. Take a little time to enjoy the sun, recharge, and step away. It can give you a renewed sense of focus and motivation for the next 6 months.

Good luck, you got this, and I can’t wait to hear how you finished the year!

Here’s to you. All my love,
Melanie
