5 Reasons to Hire a Business Coach

It’s no secret that successful people hire a business coach to help them excel in their field. The same holds true for you–no matter which stage of entrepreneurship you’re in. Whether you’re thinking about starting a business, you’ve recently launched one, or you’re working hard to grow your business, there is always more to learn. Hiring a business coach is one of the best ways to do that.
Being a business owner means you can never get too complacent! In every new phase of your business, your perspective expands – you have new skills to master, different problems to solve, and the need to push your confidence up to the next level.
It can be incredibly difficult and stressful to do all this without the support and guidance that comes from a business coach. Your coach is someone who objectively sees what you’re struggling with, who recognizes and helps you overcome your weaknesses, and who can help you hold to your vision when things looks tough.
If you’re serious about running a successful business, business coaching is worth the investment, for these reasons.
1. Speed
A qualified business coach will motivate you to do more, which means you’ll accelerate faster to reach your short- and long-term business goals.
Added bonus: When someone is holding you accountable to complete certain tasks within a specified time-frame you’ll be much more likely to follow through. Making progress feels good!
2. Stretch
Starting and growing a business is exciting, but it also can be scary. It’s easy to get stuck when you come up against a problem that A) you have no idea how to solve or B) can only be solved by you stepping outside of your comfort zone.
A business coach will be your sounding board and supportive companion who’s right alongside as you take new steps into uncharted territory. You don’t have to do this alone.
3. Objectivity
You may love your family and friends and, if they love you, they don’t want to hurt your feelings. So, what they share with you about your business efforts may not have enough “truth” to really help you make good decisions.
A good business coach who is invested in your success – someone experienced in the realities of what it takes to create a thriving business – is going to apply tough love and tell you exactly like it is: what you’re doing wrong, why, and what you need to do to get it right. This kind of unbiased input also helps you grow a tougher skin to handle the inevitable ups and downs of business ownership.
4. Clarity
There is so much to do when you start and grow a business. It’s almost impossible not to get bogged down by the details… What should I include in my business plan? How do I set up a budget and a system to pay taxes? How do I tackle marketing? Should I hire someone?
Take a deep breath. Business coaching services are the key to helping you sort out what needs to be done, when, and how, all while keeping you on track to achieve your long-term vision. Your business will function more efficiently, you’ll know what you need to focus on every day, and you’ll have the mental clarity to do your best work.
5. Skill Development
It’s crazy how fast the world is changing, especially in business. To succeed, you have to remain competitive, but keeping up with these changes is almost a full-time job. New technology, new marketing methods, and how to run a viable business during a global pandemic all require that we adapt and learn new skills quickly.
A good business coach is your champion when it comes to understanding and acting on what you need to learn to up your game in a rapidly changing and sometimes volatile environment.
The Right Type of Coaching
If your goal is to create a business you love, hire a business coach. Not coaching focused on your life, relationships, health, your leadership capabilities, or your personal accountability. These are all important areas of life. However, if you are looking to be successful in business, you need a business coach.
Ideally, you want to work with someone who is well seasoned at the helm of business ownership – who has navigated the sometimes-rough seas and who can help you get results.
As someone who has courageously chosen to start a business, do you know how to maintain a pace that enables you grow quickly and increase your profitability? Are you accountable to yourself? Are you confident enough to keep pushing past your comfort zone? Do you trust your decisions and have a clear path forward to grow your business?
When I started out in business for myself, I did not have these things. I quickly educated myself about the benefits of coaching and what I needed to make real progress to get where I am today. I know it’s tempting to plug along and try and figure things out on your own. As a woman in business, no matter what stage your business is in, you can’t afford not to hire a business coach.
What will you gain by hiring one?
Confidence, insight, encouragement. Less uncertainty and doubt. Better decision-making. Accelerated and more efficient progress toward your goals. The excitement of watching your vision become a reality.
This is what I hoped for when I started my business. For you and every woman preparing for or already on the journey to entrepreneurship, I wish the same.
